At the background there is a landscape of  Portlligat with a beach and a cliff. On the middle of the painting there is a monster sleeping and on his back there is a clock. At the foreground there are two melt clocks, one is orange and has got ants and the other is a pocket watch. There is too a tree that hasn't got any leaf.
Dalí painted this painting because one night in his house, her girlfriend Gala left the house and Dalí was thinking about camembert cheese. When Gala returned to the house Dalí finished the painting.
This painting appeals to me as tranquility and I think that this painting represents the lost time.
